Trump Accounts could first receive contributions on July 4, 2026, so 2027 is the first full calendar year of contributions (IRS: Instructions for Form 4547). This page sticks to what the IRS has published.

Limits that apply in 2027

Contribution type 2027 rule Source
Family, friends, the child, others Combined $5,000 per year (includes employer money) IRS: Instructions for Form 4547
Employer (section 128) Up to $2,500 per employee excluded from income, within the $5,000 IRS Notice 2025-68
$1,000 federal pilot deposit Not counted toward the limit; children born Jan 1, 2025 – Dec 31, 2028 IRS: Trump Accounts
Qualified general contributions (states, tribes, certain charities) Not counted toward the limit IRS: Instructions for Form 4547

Inflation adjustments

The IRS says the limits are subject to cost-of-living adjustments after 2027 (IRS: Instructions for Form 4547; Notice 2025-68). That means $5,000 and $2,500 are the figures for 2027; any adjusted amounts would start in a later year and have not been published.
